ICEWOOD / Monumental Ancient Kauri
THE GIANTS
Monumental Ancient Kauri
Once a Giant of the Forest. Forever a Guardian of the Space.
Some forms are too rare to be treated as ordinary material. These monumental Ancient Kauri specimens are preserved witnesses to prehistoric forest landscapes – individual works of natural history with their own documented recovery, physical character and provenance record.
Icewood presents THE GIANTS as a considered collection for architectural, cultural and private spaces. They are shown here for their presence, history and potential as sculptural anchors – not as a catalogue of commodities.
What are THE GIANTS?
THE GIANTS is Icewood’s collection of four documented monumental Ancient Kauri specimens—JK140, NB11/ND11, KM10 and RB21-1—recovered in Northland, New Zealand. Each has a linked AncientKauri.org provenance registration. Age figures cited are preliminary estimates, not laboratory-confirmed dates.
Four documented specimens
Each record below links to its registration at AncientKauri.org. The registrations are provided as a provenance reference; they are not a statement of laboratory dating, environmental certification or export eligibility.

Time, carefully described
The available item bios record preliminary age estimates of approximately 50,000 years BP (with stated margins of uncertainty). These estimates have not yet been independently laboratory-confirmed. Until an official laboratory report is available for an individual specimen, Icewood will describe its age as preliminary rather than definitive.
From forest giant to spatial guardian
To encounter a Giant is to encounter scale shaped by time: a cross-section, a root architecture, a grain movement that asks for room around it. In the right setting, each specimen can become a focal point for contemplation, a landmark within a landscape, or the beginning of a commissioned architectural work.

Documentation note: measurements and masses are archival estimates. Actual mass may vary with moisture, retained soil and timber condition. Original recovery records and milling documentation should remain with the relevant specimen archive.
